Painting: Mini Masterpieces

Our Mini Masterpiece projects are complete. Each student found an image of a painting they like and picked a square section from that painting to focus on. They then recreated that section of the painting on a 6 x 6 inch canvas board.

Black & White Photography: Project #4 (Close Up & Bigger Story)

Most students are still in the process of developing their prints for the "Close Up & Bigger Story" Project. For this assignment, students took images in pairs. One image had to be a close up of something located around the school and the second image needed to have the same subject matter but include some of the surrounding area.

 

 

 

Painting: Mini Masterpiece

Each student picked an image to work off of when creating their next paining. Students began by drawing out their design. Next, they mixed the colors to match as closely as possible and have started to apply their base layers of paint. When finished they should have "Mini Masterpieces" on 6 x 6 inch canvases that are small replicas of their original paintings.  

Images that did not have color were okay for this assignment if the student picked an image that contained a color scheme for them to incorporate into their actual painting. Below is an example of a black and white design that is being combined with the colors of a painting to meet the requirements of this assignment.

Art Survey: Magazine Collages

Art Survey students have completed their magazine collage projects. These projects were created using a combination of complementary and analogous color schemes.

Animals in Art: Magazine Mosaics

Animals in Art students have just competed their magazine mosaics. Each student picked an animal or insect and sketched it out on a piece of paper. They then cut out small squares of color found in magazines to glue down and complete this project.  

 

Black and White Photography: Project #3 (Angles & Perspective)

For Project #3, Black and White Photography Students took pictures that focused on unusual angles or perspectives. Some students focused on getting the "bird's eye view" or the "worm's eye view", while others came up with the own perspectives, such as the view a toddler would have of the world. Another popular choice was tilting the camera to have a more abstract view of the subject matter being photographed.  

Painting: Value Series of 3

Below are some of the finished examples of our "Series of 3" paintings. Students selected their owen subject matter and painted the same image to fit 3 different color schemes (Grayscale, Monochromatic, and Complementary Colors).
