8th graders have finished drawing their animals and started to add color using the oil pastels. They were asked to simplify the animals and use color to convey moods or emotions. The animals did not need to be realistically portrayed. We talked about the difference between realism and abstraction and will soon be designing abstract backgrounds for the animals.
