Mixed Media: Clay Self-Portraits

The clay self-portraits have been fired! The images below are somewhat difficult to see, but once the students add their color they will be easier to photograph. Along with this project, students created 6 small tiles (3 with a raised surface and 3 with carved areas). Instead of using the traditional method of glazing, they will be colored using watercolor pencils. We practiced blending colors with watercolor pencils on the practice tiles and will be moving on to the actual portraits next. Some examples of the tiles are included below.
